a tax on the use of oil, coal etc. which produce greenhouse gases which harm the atmosphere.

Love and Time

Inspirational love stories

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.
Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.
When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,
"Richness, can you take me with you?"
Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"
"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."
"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"
Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder,
Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"
"It was Time," Knowledge answered.
"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

روزی روزگاری، جزیره ای بود که تمام احساسات در آنجا زندگی می کردند. شادی ، غم ، دانش و همچنین سایر احساسات مانند عشق. یک روز به احساسات اعلام شد که جزیره غرق خواهد شد. بنابراین همگی قایق هایی را ساختند و آنجا را ترک کردند. بجز عشق. عشق تنها حسی بود که باقی ماند. عشق خواست تا آخرین لحظه ممکن مقاومت کند. وقتی جزیزه تقریبا غرق شده بود، عشق تصمیم گرفت تا کمک بخواهد.

ثروت در قایقی مجلل در حال عبور از کنار عشق بود.

عشق گفت: می توانی من را هم با خود ببری؟

ثروت جواب داد: در قایقم طلا و نقره زیادی هست و جایی برای تو وجود ندارد.

عشق تصمیم گرفت از غرور، که او هم سوار بر کشتی زیبایی از کنارش در حال عبور بود در خواست کمک کند.

-"غرور، لطفا کمکم کن"

غرور جواب داد:"عشق، من نمی توانم کمکت کنم . تو خیس هستی و ممکن است به قایقم آسیب برسانی"

غم نزدیک بود ، بنابراین عشق در خواست کمک کرد،" اجازه بده همراهت بیایم"

غم جواب داد:" اه...عشق من خیلی غمگینم و نیاز دارم تنها باشم"

شادی هم از کنار عشق گذشت و بقدری شاد بود که حتی صدای در خواست عشق را نشنید.

ناگهان صدایی به گوش رسید،" بیا عشق، من تو را همراه خود خواهم برد"  صدا، صدای پیری بود. عشق درود فرستاد و به حدی خوشحال شد که فراموش کرد مقصدشان را بپرسد. وقتی به خشکی رسیدند، پیری راه خودش را در پیش گرفت.عشق با علم به اینکه چه قدر مدیون پیریست از دانش که مسنی دیگر بود پرسید: "چه کسی نجاتم داد؟ "

دانش جواب داد:" زمان بود"

عشق پرسید:" زمان؟ اما چرا نجاتم داد؟ "

دانش با فرزانگی خاص و عمیقی لبخند زد و جواب داد: " زیرا تنها زمان است که توانایی درک ارزش عشق را داراست"

Alexander Fleming

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to eke out a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.
The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.
"I want to repay you," said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life."
"No, I can't accept payment for what I did," the Scottish farmer replied, waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.
"Is that your son?" the nobleman asked. "Yes," the farmer replied proudly.
"I'll make you a deal. Let me take him and give him a good education.
If the lad is anything like his father, he'll grow to a man you can be proud of."
And that he did. In time, Farmer Fleming's son graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London , and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.
Years afterward, the nobleman's son was stricken with pneumonia.
What saved him? Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman: Lord Randolph Churchill.
His son's name: Sir Winston Churchill.

الكساندر فلمينگ

کشاورز فقیر اسکاتلندی بود و فلمینگ نام داشت. يك روز، در حالي كه به دنبال امرار معاش خانواده اش بود، از باتلاقي در آن نزديكي صداي درخواست كمك را شنید، وسايلش را بر روي زمين انداخت و به سمت باتلاق دوید.  پسری وحشت زده که تا كمر در باتلاق فرو رفته بود، فرياد مي زد و تلاش مي كرد تا خودش را آزاد كند. فارمر فلمينگ او را از مرگي تدریجی و وحشتناك نجات می دهد.

روز بعد، كالسكه اي مجلل به منزل محقر فارمر فلمينگ رسید. مرد اشراف زاده خود را به عنوان پدر پسري معرفي کرد كه فارمر فلمينگ نجاتش داده بود.

 اشراف زاده گفت: " مي خواهم جبران كنم ". "شما زندگي پسرم را نجات دادی".

کشاورز اسکاتلندی جواب داد: " من نمي توانم براي كاري كه انجام داده ام پولی بگيرم". پيشنهادش را نمی پذیرد. در همين لحظه پسر كشاورز وارد كلبه شد.

اشراف زاده پرسید: " پسر شماست؟"

كشاورز با افتخار جواب داد:"بله"

با هم معامله مي كنيم. اجازه بدهيد او را همراه خودم ببرم تا تحصيل كند. اگر شبيه پدرش باشد، به مردي تبديل خواهد شد كه تو به او افتخار خواهي كرد. پسر فارمر فلمينگ از دانشكده پزشكي سنت ماري در لندن فارغ التحصيل شد. همين طور ادامه داد تا در سراسر جهان به عنوان سر الكساندر فلمينگ كاشف پنسيلين مشهور شد.

سال ها بعد، پسر اشراف زاده به ذات الريه مبتلا شد.

چه چيزي نجاتش داد؟ پنسيلين.

Teaching Second Language Reading Strategies

Introduction

This article describes a program that can be used for EFL classes to teach reading strategies.  The objectives of the program are that the students should be able to understand the text structure of a particular genre, find the main idea in the text, learn new vocabulary and learn effective reading strategies to develop their reading comprehension.  

In classroom interaction, a shift between teacher and learner focus is made to provide the teacher's support and guidance at earlier stages and gradually withdraw the teacher's focus to assist students in becoming more independent learners.  As some students may be shy when speaking and afraid of making mistakes in front of the class or peers, whole class, groups, and pair discussion are implemented at the earlier stages to minimize their anxiety.
